September 1st? What the actual f? How?
I feel like this happens every year. Summer starts out slow, feels like it will last forever, like you've got so much time to fill with traveling and sun basking and patio sitting. Then, before you know it, it's the end of August and you're like................wtf.
Add Chicago into the equation where your summer is literally three months, and you're sitting in a Starbucks in a sweatshirt and jeans on September 1st (surrounded by pumpkin spice, no less) trying not to think about the winter coat days in the not-too-distant future. *shudders*
WHAT I'M WEARING
I do love you, Chicago, but my god has 21+ years in the Midwest done a number on me. I hate the cold! I hate wearing a winter coat! Hands up if you grew up having to wear a coat over your Halloween costume every year! 🙋🏻🙋🏻🙋🏻 So not a good time.
But let's focus on the positives here: Summer coming to a close DOES mean that jean jacket season is now officially in full swing. (Not that I'm ever not wearing a jean jacket during any season. I have more jean jackets than I do any other item of clothing and...I'm not sorry.)
This particular jean jacket has been with me all through college! I bought her at the beginning of my freshman year, and here we are at the beginning of senior year. 😢 #nostalgia
This whole outfit is actually full of my favorites. My #1 thrifted jacket find, the comfiest jeans known to (wo)mankind, the best lifestyle Nikes I've ever owned, and my favorite graphic tee. What better way to say bye to summer than with an embroidered shirt that says it for you? (It also acts as a great response to creepy guys when you're wearing this street style, well, on the street. Boy byeeee!)
Anyone that knows me at all knows that I stan the F out of American Eagle denim. Their jeans are the only ones that consistently fit well and last forever. I have another pair of the same style that I had since my senior year of high school and worn at least 2-3 times a week every winter since - and they've barely even faded (which...could have something to do with me not washing my jeans as much as I probably should. Sorry that I'm a gross human being.) They're incredible, annnnnnd they're usually on sale. (This isn't sponsored. I just love them.)
And last but not least, my shoes! After a lot of staring at them on the internet, I finally decided to shell out the $130 (I'm not usually one to spend a ton of money on shoes, that's all my boyfriend Taylor and my best friend Shannon - they literally send each other links to shoes all the time 😭) and I'm so happy I did! I bought them at a little sneaker store in the Allston neighborhood in Boston, and I haven't stopped wearing them since.
So, in conclusion, RIP Summer 2017. You've been good to me.
Bring on the jean jackets and the pumpkin flavored shit...*sigh*
